Our Mission

My Neighbors Dog Co. was founded in 2020, by Denzel and Brooke Andrew, on the certainty that there was a need for dog parents to have better options – something more than just dog walking, pet-sitting, and training.

By fusing training with beneficial exercise, along with play and scent games, our purpose is for your dog to come out of our program more confident, obedient, and happy!

The legend of Uncle Zel and Auntie Brooke

Denzel and Brooke opened up their home for dog sitting late 2020 and were quickly floored with more booking requests, repeat clients, and 5 star reviews than they anticipated. The key is love; dogs staying at their home were treated like family and “Uncle Zel” did everything he could to enrich their lives during their stay. They’d return home and owners would notice how happy their pups were!

If a dog was pulling on the leash, Zel taught them how to walk properly without pulling. If they had problems controlling their impulses (like running out of an open door), Zel taught them to be calm and resist the urge. Any problems he encountered while in his care, he’d remedy, like a good Uncle should.

Denzel is from a small town by the name of New Orleans, Louisiana and comes from a family of musicians. At one point he could read music better than English! His tenure with dogs began at an early age but he worked many years in animal shelters and as a vet tech. Experiencing first hand the power of “positive reinforcement” based training.

Zels training style is based on rhythm, timing, and fun. Dogs are innately jovial and having a handler that’s versed in both the psychological practices of classical/operant conditioning combined with focus on tone, and dynamics have been incredibly beneficial to his 4-legged clients.

Auntie Brooke works behind the scenes, she makes sure Zel is organized and keeps an eye on your furry family members while Denzel is “in the field”.

What to expect:

Integrity first

Most new clients are acquired simply by watching Zel work (unbeknownst to him) and inquiring as to how their dog can join in. See, character is who you are when you believe no one is watching! Reviews are one thing but the story your dog tells you when they return home doesn’t lie. How they react when it’s time for their next session/stay is a story of its own.

Our system is based on the principles of an enriched doggy lifestyle. With focus on obedience, socialization, play, and health, coupled with a reliable place to stay while you’re away. We can confidently say that we are truly unique in the industry!

Genuine Care

We don’t take it lightly that you’ve chosen us to be responsible for your fur-baby. We take absolutely every safety precaution and make sure that you’re in the loop every step of the way. We are truly passionate about the health and safety of both you and your pup.

High Quality Care

Floors are clean and sanitized several times a day. The yard is flea/tick free and is maintained regularly. We try our best to return your dog as clean as we got them, and only use the highest quality tools.

Training Methodology

Training should be fun and cater to the individual needs of the dog. Breed, age, and natural instincts should always come into play. The key is to build a trusting relationship, and reward good decisions.

Training Techniques

Denzel employs the psychological practices of classical/operant conditioning. All strategies are backed by research, science, and experience.
